“Unable to authenticate” on Linux Mint
I'm using Linux Mint 19.1 on my son's computer, and today the computer started logging in (without a password, the way it is set up) then logs out after about 30 seconds.
There is a message that says "Unable to authenticate" and a button that says "Retry." Clicking "Retry" has no effect.
I am unable to log into my user as well. It tells me my password is incorrect. I booted in recovery mode and updated my password, but it still says it is incorrect.
I am not sure what to do at this point.
