Tried to apt update one day. The apt update outputs:
0% [Working]

Apt runs it's http methods /usr/lib/apt/methods/http, but this never completes.Doing a tcpdump on the network shows http never sending a request on the network at all and seems to stall. Strace into the process as it is starting up with:

while true; do ps -ef | grep http | grep apt | awk '{print$2}' | while read a ; do strace -p "$a" ; done ; done

shows a large amount of reads. Some of those reads have contents like a p5.js code fragment and here is a sysdig output:

http (31675) > read fd=4(/swapfile) size=4096
http (31675) < read res=4096 data=is[prop] = value;nn if (this._isGlobal) {n window[prop] =

After which, /usr/lib/apt/methods/http goes into a constantly context switching mode and starts taking up 100% of CPU. The apt version is apt 1.7.2. But updated a few months back.

Why is it exhibiting these behaviours?
