Screen dims on expanding terminal to fullscreen

0

Running Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon with latest liquorix kernel. The behavior holds for at least quake terminal and UXTerm.

So my display dims any time I maximize the UXTerm window or set guake to full screen. I have no idea why this is. How can I stop it?
