What is Synaptic?
I have a synaptics touchpad on my HP laptop which I need to disable automatically on boot up. I'm using Mint 19.1, I have done this task previously in Mint 17.3 but the config file is not working with the new OS. /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/synaptics.conf But what is Synaptic and do I need to install it?

Hi and welcome to the site! Could you please edit your question and clarify what you are trying to do and what your problem is? Is your question "how can I disable the touchpad" or is it "what is synaptic"? And are you perhaps confusingsynaptic
andsynaptics
(a very understandable mistake)? If you want help with your cofig file, please include it in your question and use the formatting tools to edit it as code.
