Deleting a python file taking too long

0

I am deleting a virtual environment I created using virtualenv.

rm -rf env_py2

It takes a very long time to delete it, like tens of hours. In the directory, the deletion of *.pyc files is immediate, but the *.py takes long time, like minutes for every file.

I can delete any folder, any file that is not inside virtual environment almost immediately.

Can anyone help me understand what is happening?
