Do programs added to PATH not work with the source tool?

0

I have mix added to my bash_profile like so:
export PATH="$PATH:~/.mix"

This gives me access to rebar, and it works correctly:

chris$ rebar -V
rebar 2.6.2 R15B03 20160628_123811 git 2.6.2

However, which rebar gives me nothing, and something I am trying to run is failing to find rebar, but which mix works as expected. Why is this? How can I fix it? Do I need to add rebar to the Ptah differently?

chris$ which mix
/usr/local/bin/mix
chris$ which rebar
chris$ make
make: rebar: No such file or directory
make: *** [compile] Error 1

  • If rebar -V works, what does type rebar say?
