Changing CPU affinity for just one process/thread (and not all threads spawned from that process)
I am tasked with changing the CPU number that a task executes on specified by its PID. However, I should not change the CPU number that any other threads run on that might have been launched from that task with the PID, or the CPU number of any threads that might have launched the one with the specified PID (shouldn't affect parent or children threads).
I am changing the CPU number is the following way:
struct cpumask mask;
cpumask_clear(&mask);
cpumask_set_cpu(cpuNumber, &mask);
sched_setaffinity(pid, &mask);
But will this alter the CPU number of any parent or child threads?
kernel scheduling thread
