How different is application virtualization from container virtualization?

-1

In container virtualization (such as Docker), a container shares the same linux kernel with all other containers on the same machine, but they have different execution environments.

In application virtualization (such as wine),

only one computer program is placed in an isolated container and
the isolation applies to file system only.

Do multiple programs run in application virtualization also "share the same linux kernel" but "have different execution environments", as multiple containers in container virtualization do?

Do "execution environment" (which applies to container virtualization) and "resources" (such as file systems, which applies to application virtualization) mean the same?

Thanks.
